American Youth Tour & Meeting Halsey

Halsey brought us hot cocoa!

We arrived in line sometime around lunch because we weren’t sure what to expect from the line but there barely was one at this point. It was cold and a little rainy here and there, and a few hours before VIP Halsey waked around from the back of the line carrying hot cocoa for everybody! The guy with her said there can’t be pictures and if you had VIP you cannot have any hot cocoa because VIP were about to go inside and would be warm. She was really soft spoken and kind to everyone! I had my camera ready and she luckily posed with me. No one rushed her or got out of line to swarm her so it all went smooth and quickly she was gone. L

the venue!

Cannery Ballroom in Nashville is a venue I've frequented. When you first enter you walk through what’s basically a wide hallway and this is where merch is always set up. People buying merch before the show really congest the entrance for everyone trying to get through to the next room where the stage is. Picture an upside down “L” shape and you’ve pictured the standing room layout, with the bar beside the stage nestled right against the 90O angle. I've luckily never been stuck in the back so I'm not sure if its good or not, but unless your intoxicated or a freakish giant there’s no way you’re going to have that great of a view trying to peak across the bar or from the back corner.

Olivver the kid!

What an awesome sound! The bass was vibrating the entire room and Beef, the dj, helped keep the energy way up. The three dude ensemble; Olivver, Beef and the guitarist did their thing and it was great to hear live.
After the show they hung out at their merch table and I got to meet them. Beef was cool and took a minute to talk with us. Olivver and the guitarist were quieter but both mentioned they liked my Polaroid camera. Also any purchase got you a free sticker from them!

young rising sons!

This was my second time seeing the Young Rising Sons guys and they really rock live. They have a great energy and their songs are so fun to party to live. Each member has a chance to shine on stage and front man Andy continuously moves around the small stage enough to keep every side of the crowd happy and when he's not sipping on the signature bottle of whiskey he is nailing those riffs.

After the show they came out to hang out and meet people! They stood against the wall across from merch and unfortunately it had dim lighting so pictures didn’t come out very HD. Even though the line was long they took their time with each person so no one felt rushed. I high fived them all and thanked them for staying long enough for pictures, and mentioned I saw them with The 1975. It was over in less than five minutes and they were all really cool dudes.

Halsey on stage!

Halsey is great on stage and really shines. She moves around the stage a lot, makes eye contact, and acknowledges those in the back. She took many opportunities to talk between songs and engage with the crowd.

Unlike when I saw her again with Imagine Dragons she didn’t hold anything back. Her signature moves during Hold Me Down were certainly part of the show and you could tell she felt completely comfortable in her own crowd.

Her set list!
